Nintendo just held a Direct showing off all of the new features to Animal Crossing New Leaf. There are some fairly exciting additions for long-time players. Let’s have a look at what was revealed. A new campsite has opened up in game, manned by a chap called Harvey. The main use for the campsite is to meet new villagers and get new items. There are 50 new Amiibo cards to collect, and after presenting one to Wisp in-game, the villager featured will drive their RV in to the campsi8te to come and meet you. You can use special tokens to purchase furniture for your own home, much of which can not be bought elsewhere in the game, and if you like the villager, you can convince them to come and live in your town permanently. Older AC Amiibo cards and figures will be compatible and give you special items, but the characters won’t move in to your town. Amiibo from other games have functionality too! You can get special visitors and items from Splatoon and The Legend of Zelda by using a corresponding Amiibo. Other characters such as Jingle may also visit the campsite at certain times. You can also use your Amiibo to take photos. Select the characters you want, and superimpose them on real photos of yourself and your friends. If you’re lucky enough to get your hands on either an in-game Wii U or 3DS console, you can go about checking out Desert Island Escape and Puzzle League respectively. Desert Island Escape revolves around moving your characters around a map, searching for items and food to survive on and eventually build a raft to escape. Puzzle League is a fairly standard block swapping/matching game, with a little bit of AC charm mixed in. There’s some Happy Home Designer functionality too. If you have save data, you can send get giant pieces of furniture for your town. A secret storeroom was shown off too, allowing even more item storage without taking up floor space in your house. A couple of other tweaks have been made to the game in the form of the ability to switch chat on and off in multiplayer, and the option to restart and sell your town to Tom Nook. It gives you a clean slate to work with but you will have a fairly large sum of Bells to play around with, so you can back up to speed in no time at all. Aside from Animal Crossing, it’s a fairly exciting month for Nintendo fans with the launch of Pokemon Sun and Moon. There’s only a few weeks left, so make sure to try your hand at the demo beforehand, and if you live in the UK, you can nip in to Game for a complimentary code for the legendary Pokemon Volcanion.
