Smite news round-up 12/08/16

The Summer Games event has officially started, bringing in temporary changes to the Arena map with a running track around the edge of the map allowing players to move faster and siege minions carrying beach balls. There are weekly gem rewards available to players by completing specific quests such as winning a set amount of games or reaching a certain combined number of kills and assists. These rewards will certainly help players who are just shy of being able to afford limited edition Summer of Smite skins and items. The Great Games Pantheon Sale also takes place, with a selection of skins and voice packs being available at 50% off for gods within a specific pantheon, with the pantheon changing every few days. Getting your first win of the day will also net you the player icon of the featured pantheon at the time, so all pantheon player icons are available for free to players during this event presuming they are able to win the required matches.

Terra - The Earth mother, was released last week in Patch 3.14 - force Of Nature. The character is a Roman Guardian, joining Bacchus and Sylvanus. Her abilities revolve around manipulating stone obelisks, she fights with her fists in a similar fashion to Mercury and her ult is a global team buff. Datamining has led us to believe the next two gods to be released will be the Japanese Izanami (goddess of creation and death) and the Mayan Camazotz (god of bats). Exactly how they will play is unknown but rumours have led us to believe the abilities will be particularly flavour heavy.
